Sooke Fire Rescue Responds to Garage Fire on Sooke River Road

Monday, May 13, 2024 – On Saturday, May 11, 2024 at approximately 7:56 AM, Sooke Fire Rescue responded to a garage fire on Sooke River Road. The timely intervention of Sooke Fire Rescue, along with mutual aid partners, including Otter Point, Metchosin, and East Sooke, contributed to the successful containment of the fire.
The fire, originating in the garage, extended to a small unit attached to it. Thanks to the efficient response and coordination of the emergency crews, the fire was quickly brought under control and the main residence was not impacted.
The occupants, who were present at the time of the incident, promptly alerted authorities by dialing 911, facilitating the timely arrival of emergency services.
Early investigation indicates that the fire was most likely accidental in nature, caused by an electrical malfunction. The Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) has been notified for further awareness and assessment.
There are no reports of civilian or firefighter injuries.
