Reporting and Repairing Street Light Outages

The District of Sooke is working to keep community street lights in your neighborhood in good repair to help keep your community safe.

Reporting an Outage

If you notice a street light that is out, flickering, vandalized, or on during the day, please call the District at 250-642-1634.

When reporting a problem, please provide the approximate location, such as the intersection, nearby house or business address, to help repair crews locate and fix the problem promptly.

Staff will schedule the repair, and track the progress so that information can be provided to residents.

Regarding Ornamental Lighting please note, as defined by the Subdivision and Development Standards Bylaw 404 (2014) in Schedule 10, Section 2.0, Subsection 2.3 (b) Ornamental Lighting:

  • As of September 2017, there has been a name change regarding the Cyclone model street lights, as follows: CY1507-F1 is replaced by CY15T4 (HID or LED), and CY4102-F1 is replaced by CL41T4 (HID) and CL41T4A (LED).
  • As of September 2017, there has been a name change regarding the Cyclone model street lights, as follows: i.) #NEL3001 is replaced by NEL30S (LED)  ii.) CY1507-F1 is replaced by CY15T4 (HID or LED), and CL4102-F1 is replaced by CL41T4 (HID) and CL41T4A (LED).
