Jordan Solar and Energy Storage Public comment period coming soon on initial project description

The public will be invited to participate in an upcoming public comment period for the Jordan Solar & Energy Storage project. Jordan BC Solar Project Limited Partnership has proposed to build a solar power generation plant that would produce up to 100 megawatts of renewable energy, 40 kilometres northwest of Sooke, B.C.

The public comment period is open from February 15 to March 18, 2024, at midnight PDT.

An in-person public open house will be held February 29, 2024, at the Sooke Community Hall (2037 Shields Rd., Sooke, V9Z 1A5) from 4:00 – 7:00 PM PDT.

A virtual information session will be held online March 7, 2024, from 4:30-6:00 PM PDT

The initial project description, which the Environmental Assessment Office is seeking comments on, describes major components of the project, where they will be located, and potential impacts on the surrounding environment and existing human activities.

The Environmental Assessment Office is looking for input to help identify key interests, issues and concerns of First Nations, stakeholders and the public. This input helps inform the proponent’s more detailed project design, including the location of project infrastructure and alternative approaches to the project to address any concerns identified.
