Friday, November 17, 2023 – Environment Canada has issued the following special weather statement, affecting West Vancouver Island including Sooke:
Strong winds are expected Saturday Night to Sunday Morning.
Location: Exposed coastal communities of West Vancouver Island and areas near Juan de Fuca Strait including Tofino, Ucuelet, Port Renfrew, Jordan River, Sooke, Victoria Harbour.
Hazards: Strong northwest or west winds. Risk of power outages. Remarks: A vigorous frontal system will move across the south coast Saturday evening to Sunday. With the frontal passage, strong winds are expected for exposed coastal sections of West Vancouver Island and through Juan de Fuca strait Saturday night to Sunday morning.
High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
