Sooke RCMP: One Person Arrested Following Downtown Sooke Stabbings

Monday, September 18, 2023 – The District of Sooke is sharing the following release from Sooke RCMP. Currently, Mayor and Council attending the Union of BC Municipalities Convention to meet with various Ministers and vote on resolutions that impact Sooke. Among the Ministerial meetings, Mayor and Council are meeting with the Minister of Public Safety/Solicitor General regarding policing resources for our community.

Sooke RCMP is investigating an altercation between a group of individuals which resulted in two men getting stabbed in Sooke.

On September 16, just after 6:00 p.m., Sooke RCMP responded to the 6600 block of Sooke Rd for a report of a man who had been stabbed. Police, with the help of the public, initiated first aid on the victims until BC Ambulance arrived and eventually transport them to hospital for their serious injuries.

The investigation indicated that an altercation erupted between a group of people which eventually led to the victims being stabbed. The events leading up to the altercation are also carefully being investigated. The suspect, a 21-year-old man was located nearby and was arrested.

This appears to be an isolated incident and there does not appear to be any further risk to the public.
