SEAPARC Annual Ammonia Emergency Drill includes testing of Public Alert Notification System on November 12th

Tuesday, November 10, 2020 – SEAPARC staff and the Sooke Fire Department are working together to coordinate the annual mock ammonia emergency drill on Thursday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m.

Please be aware that the drill will include a resident notification process for those in close proximity (300 metres) of the arena. If you are registered for the Public Alert Notification System (PANS), you will receive a notification via your registered device from the Capital Regional District. Alternatively, if you are not registered, please be advised that in the event of a real emergency the Sooke Fire Department will attempt to notify you at your residence.

SEAPARC Manager Steve Knoke shares, “This annual drill and exercise involves coordinating agencies including the Sooke Fire Department, Refrigeration Contactor, and residents in close proximity of the arena, and is a part of (SEAPARC’s) comprehensive operation and maintenance safety program.”

To learn more about the Public Alert Notification system, please see this page on the District of Sooke website, where you will find answers to frequently asked questions and information on how to sign up.
