Tuesday, November 10, 2020 – The District of Sooke will receive $2.9 million through the province’s Safe Restart Grant Program aimed at COVID-19 relief.
The funding is part of the $540 million of joint federal and provincial spending announced by the Government of British Columbia earlier this year. The grant is to assist with increased operating costs and lower revenue due to COVID-19.
“It is reassuring to see the federal and provincial governments recognize and work with local governments to come with these funds,” shares Mayor Tait.
More details on the funding and specific use of the funds will be determined as information becomes available from the province. 2021 budget discussions continue at the November 16th Committee of the Whole: click here to listen to the live stream.
