Mass Casualty Training Scenario Conducted with Emergency Response Personnel at EMCS in Sooke on Sunday, December 10

Thursday, December 7, 2023 – To enhance preparedness and response capabilities in emergency situations, a Mass Casualty Training Scenario will be conducted at Edward Milne Community School in Sooke on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The exercise is designed to test the emergency response personnel’s coordination, communication, and medical response skills, allowing them to efficiently handle a large-scale incident.

The training scenario involves a simulated incident with multiple casualties, replicating a real-time emergency. Various emergency response teams, including paramedics, firefighters, police officers, and public health officials, collaborate to manage a rapidly evolving crisis. The event aims to evaluate their ability to coordinate efforts, triage victims, provide medical assistance, and establish effective communication channels among the teams.

Through this simulation, all participating entities are given an opportunity to identify areas for improvement and strengthen their emergency response strategies. The exercise also serves as a platform for fostering collaboration and interdisciplinary coordination among different agencies involved in emergency management.

The District extends its gratitude to all participants and partners for their dedication and commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. By conducting such training scenarios, we can better equip ourselves to handle any potential emergencies that may arise. Many thanks to all partners involved including BC Emergency Health Services and the Provincial Health Services Authority who are leading the event.
