Ever dreamed of time travel? With this year’s Summer Reading Clubs and Challenges for kids, teens, and adults, participants can roam with the dinosaurs, delve deep into the Paleolithic, imagine future technologies and cityscapes, and conjure up new histories, alternate realities, and so much more. This year, our Summer Reading Clubs and Challenges are inviting everyone to “journey through time”.
Kids Summer Reading Club (SRC)
From reading activities to drawing workshops, time-travelling music playlists to fantastic prizes, SRC 2023 is journeying through time in fun and exciting ways. As always, the goal is to help kids read and engage with the library in the summer and maintain or improve their literacy skills.
Registration opens June 20. SRC runs July 4 – August 22 for children up to age 12.

Vancouver Island Regional Library is sponsoring the BC Summer Reading Club in cooperation with the British Columbia Library Association, with funding from the Libraries Branch, BC Ministry of Education, and CUPE BC.
Timey Wimey Teen Summer Challenge (TSC)
The Doctor will see you now. Doctor? Who? Yes, Doctor Who! Teens aged 12 – 18 are invited to take part in all sorts of time travel themed activities and challenges for the chance to win some out-of-this-world prizes in TSC 2023!
All you need to do is find the nearest Tardis, and pick up your Timey Wimey Activity Booklet, either online or in your branch, starting July 4. Then, start tracking your TSC activities across the time space continuum.
The grand prize is a Nintendo Switch OLED and there are lots of other great prizes to be won.
Registration opens June 20 and the TSC runs July 4 – August 31.

Adult Summer Challenge (ASC): Pick a Time to Read
It’s time travel bingo time for all our adult summer readers and activity seekers! Every bingo square you complete improves your chances of winning some amazing prizes, so start thinking about books and movies that bend time, contemplate time, or that you’ve always wished you had time enough to read or watch.
The ASC runs July 4 – August 31. Full contest details, with everything you need to participate, are available here.
With so many great activities planned for every age, this summer promises to be an epic journey through the epochs and ages, eras and dynasties. Now, if only there was a way to slow down time and make summer last a little longer.
