Get FireSmart! Register for an Upcoming FireSmart Information Session; Book a Free Home Assessment

Tuesday, February 1, 2022 – Sooke residents are invited to attend an information session to learn about the threat of wildfire within our community and book a free home assessment to take action and help Sooke become more wildfire resilient!

The District of Sooke, through the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) FireSmart Economic Recovery Fund grant, is pleased to offer (virtual) FireSmart Information Sessions and Free FireSmart Home Assessments this Spring

FireSmart Information Sessions

In these 90 minute sessions learn about the FireSmart program, including:

  • wildfire risk and behaviour;
  • the wildland interface zone;
  • how to protect where you live (home and property) and;
  • how we all can increase community resiliency.

When:

  • Tuesday, February 22 at 10:00 am
  • Thursday, February 24 at 1:00 pm
  • Monday, March 21 at 10:00 am
  • Wednesday, March 23 at 1:00 pm

FireSmart Home Assessments

Through this complimentary service for residents, our FireSmart Coordinator will conduct an on-site assessment and create an action report of steps you can take to FireSmart your home and property.
