Fire Safety Education

The Sooke Fire Rescue Department has a dedicated team that is committed to providing critical life saving training to all residents and businesses within the community. Through a variety of programs, the members of Sooke Fire Rescue are available to train any age group and any occupation in the steps required to make your home or business safer from fire and other emergencies. All programs are offered free of charge to participants and include:

  • Fire Extinguisher Training
  • Fire Safety in the Workplace
  • Fire Safety Training for Restaurant Owners and Employees
  • Fire Safety for Seniors
  • Fire Station Tours
  • Annual Fire Safety Expo for Grade 3 and 4 students
  • Fire Smart – Wildland Fire Safety Program
  • Youth Fire Setter Intervention Program

After an emergency, Sooke Emergency Support Services volunteers are available to assist in a time of need. Whether it is one home affected by a fire or flood or an entire neighborhood threatened by a forest fire, ESS volunteers are trained and able to provide aid, comfort and basic needs to residents of the community through those first critical hours of a disaster. As part of Sooke’s Emergency Program, this volunteer group is a division of the Sooke Fire Rescue Department.
