Construction Milestone: Charters Road First Lift Paving March 26-March 28, 2024

Monday, March 25, 2024  – In another significant milestone for road infrastructure improvements, Charters Road is scheduled for closure on Tuesday, March 26 through Thursday, March 28 for the paving of the first lift of asphalt for a portion of the project (weather permitting). This pivotal phase of construction marks a crucial step forward in enhancing road quality while construction continues.

The implementation of the first lift in road construction will improve the road surface and enhance dust control with works ongoing for the next several months.

The first lift involves laying the initial layer of asphalt, which serves as a foundation for subsequent layers. This results in a smoother, more durable road surface, reducing wear and tear and providing a safer driving experience for commuters.

Given the impact of closing Charters, Hazelwood Construction is mobilizing additional resources to have this work undertaken during spring break.

Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan alternate routes during the temporary road closure and to exercise caution when navigating through construction zones.

This phase of work will exclude the “Throup Creek dip” which will see a culvert addition during the fisheries window. As this milestone is met, an extended road closure will occur. As soon as dates are known for this upcoming milestone, we will keep the community informed.

The community’s patience and cooperation as we work towards enhancing our road infrastructure for the benefit of all is very much appreciated.
