Updated Sunday, October 20, 10:21am: Sooke Potholes Gateway Status

Sunday, October 20, 2024, 10:21am – The water levels at Sooke Potholes have receded to safe levels, allowing the Sooke Potholes Gateway to reopen. This means that visitors can once again access and enjoy the popular area, but are encouraged to remain cautious around waterways.

Saturday, October 19, 2024, 2:40 pm – Due to the current weather event and rising water levels in the Sooke River, vehicle access to the Sooke Potholes Gateway is temporarily closed until further notice. The safety of our community and visitors is our top priority, and we are taking necessary precautions in response to changing conditions.

Once water levels recede and our team can safely conduct a site inspection, we will work to reopen the Sooke Potholes Gateway as soon as possible.

We remind everyone to stay clear of potentially unstable riverbanks and to exercise caution around waterways, especially during periods of heavy rain and fluctuating conditions.

This is a dynamic situation, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Stay safe, and thank you for your understanding.
