Sooke Radio in Planning Stages: Join the Discussion on September 16

Monday, September 9, 2024 – The District of Sooke is excited to support the development of Sooke Radio, a community-driven initiative that will offer a platform to amplify local voices, tell stories, and celebrate the people and businesses that make Sooke such a unique and vibrant place. As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering local initiatives, the District has contributed $5,000 through a community grant to help bring this project to life.

While still in the planning stages, Sooke Radio invites residents to participate in a public meeting to share ideas and discuss the station’s potential. The meeting will be held on Monday, September 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sooke Community Hall, lower level, 2037 Shields Road. Everyone is welcome to attend and contribute to the conversation about how Sooke Radio can best reflect and support the community.

“Sooke Radio will be a space where the stories of our residents, businesses, and organizations can shine,” said Mayor Maja Tait. “This initiative will help foster deeper connections within the community by celebrating the incredible people who call Sooke home.”

Sooke Radio aims to showcase local music, interviews, and feature stories that highlight the spirit and diversity of Sooke. Whether it’s a spotlight on local artists, a feature on community events, a platform for businesses to share their journeys, or reporting on current traffic conditions, the station will bring local stories to the forefront.
