Tuesday, March 22, 2022 – The District is sharing this release from Vancouver Island Regional Library:
The grand opening celebrations for the new Sooke branch of Vancouver Island Regional Library (VIRL) have been put on hold. The celebrations had been slated for Saturday, March 26, but ongoing job action means that a new date is in the best interest of everyone involved.
The new branch has been open since Friday, February 25. In that time, the community has flocked to the library and the branch has seen a surge in card registrations:
- Total card registrations: 597 (all card types) – that’s 25 / day so far!
- Total children’s card registrations: 198
- Total adult card registrations: 375
- Total card registrations for youth aged 13-18: 90
More details to come about a revised date for the grand opening.
