Tuesday, August 22, 2023 – Thanks for your continued patience as work on the benches at Whiffin Spit continues!
Our team has been busy behind the scenes inspecting the benches to ensure safety if any can be retained due to weathering and coordinating with families regarding the installation of new benches, in particular where locations are changing.
What’s next?
- Form-fitting today
- Concrete pouring Thursday
- Concrete curing into next week
- Bench installation to follow (likely to take approximately 2-weeks)
Friday, July 28, 2023 – New park benches are coming to Whiffin Spit!
During this work, throughout the month of August, some benches will be removed temporarily. Additionally, the configuration of benches will change slightly as some units are repositioned to better withstand the elements.
The new benches have a concrete and wood design that are more durable in marine conditions.
Pets on Leash During Work
When crews are on site, for the safety of pets and persons, please keep pets on leash.
Families with memorial plaques installed on the benches are being contacted as this work is undertaken.
After the work is complete, the public will enjoy twenty-six benches alongside majestic ocean views!
