Tuesday, December 19, 2023 – In response to resident feedback, Manzer Road is now closed to vehicle traffic to/from Highway 14. Traffic is directed to use Gillespie Road, as intended.
Sooke Fire Rescue retains emergency access via Manzer Road, if necessary.
“We heard residents’ concerns and appreciate their involvement to realize a solution that works best for those most impacted,” says District of Sooke Engineering and Infrastructure Raphiel Mattson.
In a report to Council earlier this year, Mattson highlighted the continuous traffic flow and the overwhelming support for a gate from area residents.
The gate cost approximately $27,000 and was funded within the District’s streetlight, bus stop and road safety operating budget.
