High Streamflow Advisory: Sooke River

Thursday, October 28, 2021 – The River Flow Advisory Centre has issued a high streamflow advisory for the Sooke River.

“A moderate atmospheric river event is currently impacting southern Vancouver Island. Rainfall amounts in the 25-40 mm range have been observed this morning, with Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasting additional amounts in the 40-60 mm range for areas around Port Renfrew,” the BC River Forecast Centres shared in their advisory.

With the continued rainfall warnings in the forecast, the public is advised to stay clear of the fast-flowing rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks.

The District will continue to monitor the conditions and provide updates, as available, through the District website and Twitter account.
