The District flags have been lowered to half-mast in honour of RCMP Const. Heidi Stevenson, who lost her life this past weekend. Const. Stevenson was a 23-year veteran of the police force with two children and a husband at home, according to Nova Scotia RCMP Commanding Officer, Lee Bergerman. “Heidi answered the call of duty and lost her life while protecting those she served,” Bergerman said in the statement.

The mass shooting incident in Portapique, Nova Scotia resulted in many victims outside of the RCMP. The District expresses sincere condolences to all who have been impacted by this tragic event.
