Update: Sooke Fire Respond to Structure Fire at 2197 Otter Point Road

Wednesday, October 13, 2021, 4:44 p.m. – Sooke RCMP is seeking witnesses following an early morning structure fire.

“Anyone travelling Otter Point Road between 2:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. is asked to report any observations or dash camera footage to the Sooke RCMP in person or by phone at 250-642-5241,” Sooke RCMP shared in a release this afternoon.

Otter Point Road between Helgesen Road and Wadams Way reopened shortly after 2:00 p.m. today.


Wednesday, October 13, 2021, 9:55 a.m. – The Sooke Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 2197 Otter Point Road at approximately 5:30 a.m today. Mutual aid was provided by Metchosin and Otter Point Fire Departments.

There is extensive damage to the structure, which was scheduled for demolition. Due to the damage, it is likely the structure will be torn down later today.

As of 9:55 a.m. Sooke Fire remains on the scene with an ongoing investigation. The cause of the blaze is not yet known.

Vehicle traffic in the area continues to be re-routed.
