FILMING NOTICE: Filming in Sooke on April 28th and April 29th; Park Closures in Effect on April 29th During Production

Friday, April 14, 2023 – Sooke will be the scene for at least one episode of a popular TV series.

Production will take place on Saturday, April 29th in local parks:

  • Ed Macgregor Park including the Rotary Pier and Sooke Marine Boardwalk: 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Whiffin Spit: 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

No access to the parks and associated parking lots will be permitted during production.

The public is invited to enjoy Sooke’s other waterfront park spaces including Ella Beach and Billings Spit during the one-day closure.

With the park closures, parking lot closures include:

  • Rotary Pier lot on Horne Road, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29th;
  • Ed Macgregor Park lot at 6571 West Coast Road, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29th; and
  • Whiffin Spit lot at 1510 Whiffin Spit Road, 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29th.

Crews will also be conducting filming by drone, in accordance with Transport Canada regulations, and handheld cameras on Friday, April 28th; the public can expect such filming in areas throughout Sooke.

The District has been working closely with the production company to balance the community impact and accommodate production needs, and thanks residents for their understanding as we welcome this opportunity for Sooke.

Evidenced by the approval of the Community Economic Development Strategy and the hiring of a Community Economic Development Officer, the District is keen to enhance our local economy and support local businesses. Engaging with the film industry provides a prime mechanism to do just that.
