Join us in honouring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sooke Branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library. This day is dedicated to reflecting on the lasting impact of residential schools and to promoting healing, understanding, and unity within our community.

Through a meaningful gathering, we will recognize the importance of Truth and Reconciliation, a process of acknowledging the historical and ongoing injustices faced by Indigenous Peoples. The event will include moments for reflection, opportunities for dialogue, and shared resources to further our collective journey toward reconciliation.

For more information on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) Calls to Action and how you can further be involved in the reconciliation process, please visit the official TRC website: https://nctr.ca.

For those seeking support, the National Indian Residential School Crisis Line (1-866-925-4419), offers emotional and crisis support to residential school survivors and their families.

Let’s come together to honour this important day, recognizing the past and committing to a future rooted in respect and understanding.
