The Sooke Region Chamber of Commerce and the Edward Milne Community School Society will co-host a non-confrontational civic election conversation for mayoral candidates and introduce up to 23 council candidates on October 1 from 2 to 4pm at Edward Milne Community School, 6218 Sooke Rd. Hour 1: (up to 3) Mayoral Candidates are asked four questions
- 2:00-2:10 Welcome
- 2:10 – 2:20 Opening Statements from Mayor Candidates: 3 min each
- 2:20 – 2:40 Four prepared questions to Mayoral Candidates: 2 min each
- 2:40 to 2:50 Closing Statement from Mayor Candidates: 3 Min each
Hour 2: (up to 23) Council candidates statements
- 3:00 to 3:40: ALL 23 Councillor Candidates are invited to give a two-minute prepared statement.
- 3:40 to 3:45 pm, Closing
There will be no intermission, the event hosts will go directly from the mayor questions to the councillor statements.
Given the large number of candidates running for office in Sooke, there will be no public Q&A session. Instead, audience members are encouraged to attend Transition Sooke’s municipal all-candidates’ meeting on October 2, where they can ask questions and speak directly to the candidates.
