Public Notice: Seasonal Shoreline Work at Whiffin Spit

Wednesday, June 9, 2021 – Parks staff and 4M Contracting will be completing shoreline maintenance at Whiffin Spit throughout the week. The public can expect equipment on site at varying times from June 11-18 as crews manage shoreline erosion from winter storms, placing boulders to maintain the site.

For the safety of visitors and pets, park users are kindly asked to leash up their pets where crews are working.

  • Whiffin Spit is 2.7 kilometres long
  • 220 bird species have been observed at Whiffin Spit including blue heron, bald eagle, white-crowed sparrow, black oystercatcher and more.
