The Sooke Fine Arts Show Proceeds as Scheduled, No Risk from Fire

The Sooke Fine Arts Show is continuing as planned with daily events taking place this week and through next weekend. All scheduled musical performances, demonstrations, talks and tours, activities, and events will proceed as planned.

Coastal Fire Centre assures us that the fire poses no risk to the community of Sooke. According to the latest update from BC Wildfire Services (July 28), the south and north flanks of the fire are successfully contained and the west flank along the Sooke River is 100% contained with no appreciable growth overnight.

Our team is closely monitoring the situation through the District of Sooke and BC Wildfire Services to ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees, staff, and volunteers. We are grateful for the firefighters’ efforts and are confident in the measures that have been put in place to safeguard our town, residents, businesses, and our event.

How Can You Help?

The publicity surrounding the fire has led some to reconsider visiting Sooke, despite reassurances that the road and the town of Sooke remain open as usual. This has been challenging for local shops, restaurants, and events like the Sooke Fine Arts Show.

We encourage visitors to come and spend the day in Sooke! Enjoy over 370 original stunning artworks and daily events at the show, then explore what else Sooke has to offer. Start with a coffee from one of local cafés, plan for lunch or dinner at one of our amazing restaurants, visit our unique boutiques, check out our historical museum, stroll the Thursday night market or relax at one of our beaches.

Stop by the Info Booth at the show for directions and recommendations for all things local.

The show takes place every day this week through Monday, August 5 at SEAPARC Recreation Centre, 2168 Phillips Road, Sooke. Open most days from 10am to 7pm, with extended hours from 10am to 9pm on August 1, and closing early at 5pm on August 2 and 5.
