Celebrating Arrival of 3200 Scouts

Thursday, July 4, 2024 – This week, preparations for Scouts Canada’s Pacific Jamboree kicked off at Camp Barnard as volunteers arrived to set the stage for an unforgettable event. Throughout the week, these dedicated individuals have been transforming the site in anticipation of welcoming more than 3200 participants, who will arrive on Saturday.

This Jamboree promises a week filled with fun, friendship, and adventure. From Sunday, July 7th, to Friday, July 12th, be on the lookout for patrols of 4-8 Scouts and their Scouters exploring Sooke. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to extend a warm welcome and showcase Sooke’s renowned hospitality as a “place of smiling faces.”

Mayor Maja Tait expressed her excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to welcome the Scouts Canada Pacific Jamboree and welcome so many young people to our beautiful community. It’s an honour to share the spirit of Sooke with Scouts from across the country.”

As we celebrate the spirit of Scouting and the gathering of so many young people eager to learn and grow, we invite all residents to join us in making this event memorable. Say hello, share a smile, and help make their visit to Sooke truly special.
