Sandbag Station Opens at Ed Macgregor Parking Lot

Wednesday, October 18, 2023 – Today, the District sandbag station opened at the Ed Macgregor Park parking lot at 6752 West Coast Road.

The station is self-serve, open 24 hours a day, with sand and bags provided by the District and Emergency Management and Climate Readiness BC. Residents are asked to bring their own shovels to fill the bags and are encouraged to take only enough to meet their needs so that supplies are available for others.

The station will remain open through the (rainy) season.

What if there are no bags available at the station?

Parks staff will monitor the inventory of sand and bags during routine inspections that occur each week. During weather events, additional supplies will be made available. Please take only enough to meet your needs so that supplies are available for others.

Will this take away from the already limited parking available at Ed Macgregor Park?

The station will be set up to minimize disruption to parking.
