NEWS RELEASE

Sooke, BC– Join the District of Sooke and Juan de Fuca Community Trails Society for a Community Clean Up event focused on restoring the Helgesen Stream and Broomhill Park Greenspace.

Date:              Saturday, November 16, 2019
Time:              10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location:        Broomhill Park, 2280 Pyrite Drive

“Two things I love about Sooke are our connection to nature and our enthusiastic spirit of volunteerism”, says Mayor Maja Tait. “Both of these characteristics have been identified in Council’s newly updated Strategic Plan as community assets to be protected and encouraged. I encourage residents to join us at ‘the fishy park’ for an hour or two to help restore this well-loved community space and to meet some new friends and neighbours.”

Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to meet at the Broomhill Park playground, located at 2280 Pyrite Drive any time between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Tools and gloves will be provided, as will refreshments.
