- Access key preparedness resources to keep your household safe
- Build community connections—because we are stronger together in an emergency
- Win a four-person emergency kit, generously provided by the province
The tsunami risk for most of Sooke is low, with potential impacts limited to a few properties near Whiffin Spit, the Sooke Basin, and areas near the Sooke River. However, preparedness is key for everyone. The High Ground Hike provides an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and connect, ensuring that all residents—regardless of location—are informed and ready to respond as a community to any emergency.
“Preparedness starts now, not when disaster strikes,” says Ryland Bennet, District of Sooke Emergency Program Manager. “This hike helps our community practice evacuation procedures and reinforces the importance of supporting one another in an emergency.”
