Traffic Advisory: Wounded Warrior One Day Run on Highway 14 – Sunday, February 2, 2025

Tuesday, January 7, 2025 – On Sunday, February 2, 2025, the Wounded Warrior One Day Run will travel along Highway 14 from Sooke to Sidney, drawing attention to the mental health needs of first responders, Veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, and their families.

The event begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Sooke Legion.

A convoy of first responders, including fire trucks, police vehicles, and ambulances, will accompany the runners, offering visible support and serving as a reminder of the challenges faced by those who dedicate their lives to serving and protecting others.

Drivers are encouraged to give space to the runners and convoy and follow the directions of support vehicles for everyone’s safety. Some delays can be expected on Highway 14 from Otter Point Road into Langford from 10 a.m. to noon.

More About the Cause

First responders, along with members of the military and Veterans, often experience high levels of stress, exposure to traumatic events, and other unique challenges on the job. These experiences can have a lasting impact on their mental health and overall well-being, as well as on their families.

The Wounded Warrior Run raises awareness of these challenges and provides funding for programs and services that address mental health and promote healing. These include counseling, peer support, and specialized training programs to support the well-being of those who give so much to our communities.

The One Day, Sooke to Sidney, Run is a prelude to the main event. The main event is an 8-day, 600-kilometer relay from Port Hardy to Victoria.
