Friday, November 26, 2021 – Today, the memorial in commemoration of the undocumented children of residential schools at the town centre kiosk was removed through the guidance and support of the T’Sou-ke First Nation.
All items will be assessed by a local First Nation Elder. Items in good condition will be cleaned and repurposed, while all remaining natural fibre items will be a part of a ceremonial burn.
Through the direction of the local First Nation, this location will not see a permanent memorial resurrected; the District will provide additional information based on guidance from the T’Sou-ke First Nation.
Together, we ask that the community respect our local T’Sou-ke First Nation, and their privacy, as they continue their healing journey.
