Street sweeping update – week of May 25, 2020

Crews continue with street cleaning efforts taking place throughout April and May. During the week of May 25, sweepers will be starting with the north end of Sooke River Road and continuing east through Saseenos, likely finishing up in East Sooke by end of week.

Sooke residents are asked to proactively park their vehicles off of streets as much as possible. Vehicles that remain on the street will hinder overall cleanup efforts as sweepers will be required to move around and leave debris that might otherwise be cleared.

Contracted road maintenance crews do not have a set schedule as the speed with which they progress depends on many factors. Weekly updates will be provided on the front page of www.sooke.ca and on the District’s Twitter account @SookeCa, outlining a phased progression throughout the community. Work will be completed from approximately 5:00 am – 2:30 p.m.

If parking off-street is not an option, residents who see or hear street sweepers arriving in their neighbourhood are asked to move their vehicles temporarily as crews approach.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance in beautifying our community.
