Residents asked to park off streets to assist with street sweeping program

April 17, 2020
[Sooke, BC]

The District of Sooke is asking residents to assist with street cleaning efforts over the next 4 weeks.

Street sweeping crews will be operating throughout the community commencing on April 21, 2020.  Residents are asked to proactively park their vehicles off of streets as much as possible. Vehicles that remain on the street will hinder overall cleanup efforts as sweepers will be required to move around and leave debris that might otherwise be cleared.

Contracted road maintenance crews do not have a set schedule as the speed with which they progress depends on many factors. Weekly updates will be provided on the front page of www.sooke.ca and on the District’s Twitter account @SookeCa, outlining a phased progression throughout the community. Work will be completed from approximately 5:00 am – 2:30 p.m. and will begin on April 21 on the west side of Sooke River, covering streets north of Highway 14.

If parking off-street is not an option, residents who see or hear street sweepers arriving in their neighbourhood are asked to move their vehicles temporarily as crews approach.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance in beautifying our community.
