Wednesday, April 9, 2025 – The District of Sooke is sharing this local engagement opportunity from the Sooke Region Museum and Visitor Information Centre:
Join a conversation to help Sooke Region Museum adapt to the growing region
The Sooke Region Historical Society invites your ideas to help the Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre evolve with the region’s changing needs.
“We’ve received great response to our survey launched in February to gather input on how the community feels about the museum,” said Doni Eve, Sooke Region Historical Society President. “We are now inviting members of the public to join a conversation to fully explore your ideas.”
Community conversations will explore:
- What interests you about the Museum.
- How you feel the Museum might respond to the needs of the communities it serves.
- Your ideas for potential partnerships, programs, or services.
- Your Insights into how we can foster a stronger sense of connection, belonging, and pride in the Museum and the stories it shares.
Conversations will be 1.5 hours, at the Events Pavilion, Sooke Region Museum, 2070 Phillips Rd, Sooke. Choose a session and RSVP louise@louisebrowneassociates.com to reserve your spot.
- Thursday April 24: 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Thursday April 24: 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
- Friday April 25: 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
A Vision for the Next 50 Years
“The museum will be 50 in 2027, and as our communities grow, we want to continue to reflect the needs, values, and stories of the region from East Sooke to Port Renfrew,” said Doni Eve, Sooke Region Historical Society president. “You can share your ideas through the survey, attend a conversations or visit us throughout the region this spring and summer at events such as Sookarama, Canada Day, Shirley Day and All Sooke Day.”
The survey will be available until the end of August. As a show of gratitude for participation, there will be a prize draw each month for those who complete the survey and submit an entry.
“The Sooke Region Museum is not just about preserving the past—it’s about shaping the future,” said Michelle Richard, Executive Director. “This process is about bringing people together to ensure the museum continues to serve as a meaningful resource and reflection of our community, and a vibrant hub of culture, education, and connection for generations to come.”
