#ShopSookeFirst Community Story: Woodside Farm – A Living Piece of Sooke’s History and Community

Friday, February 28, 2025 As part of the District of Sooke and Sooke Chamber of Commerce’s #ShopSookeFirst campaign, we are proud to highlight Woodside Farm. With a legacy dating back to 1851, Woodside Farm is the oldest active farm in Western Canada and a cornerstone of Sooke’s rich agricultural heritage. This family-run farm offers more than fresh, locally grown produce—it provides a space where our community can connect with nature and one another. Their year-round farm stand is always open, stocked with farm-fresh eggs, apple juice, hay, firewood, microgreens

, and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Whether you’re preparing a home-cooked meal or looking for a healthy snack, Woodside Farm’s commitment to fresh, local food is always within reach. Woodside Farm is also a popular agritourism destination and community event space. Each summer, the farm hosts Fresh Food Experience Days, where visitors can enjoy freshly picked strawberries, visit friendly farm animals, take a hayride, and explore the Apple Maze. With birthday party bookings and private event spaces available, Woodside Farm is a place where special memories are made. Looking ahead to 2025, the farm will welcome guests to the Woodside Farm Country Inn, a charming B&B located in one of Sooke’s oldest buildings. This addition will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the farm’s rich history and natural beauty, further enhancing Sooke’s reputation as a vibrant destination. The story of Woodside Farm reflects the spirit of Sooke—where passion, community, and sustainability come together. The support they’ve received from local residents and visitors alike is a testament to the power of shopping local. Every visit to the farm stand, e very smile during a hayride, and every event hosted on the farm contributes to a thriving local economy. “Our goal is to create a place where people can reconnect with nature, experience where their food comes from, and enjoy time with family and friends,” says Joshua, the owner of Woodside Farm. “We’re incredibly grateful for the support from our community, and we look forward to continuing to grow together.” Discover more about Woodside Farm, book your next event, and stay updated on upcoming events by visiting their website: www.woodside.farm or following them on Facebook. Let’s continue to celebrate and support the stories behind our local businesses as we #ShopSookeFirst. ___________________________________________

“Wonderful place! Starts with a great farmstand, full of fresh greens, strawberries, veggies and eggs! You can walk around the farm, see all the animals and do the apple maze, that is pretty cool! Nice places to sit, relax and enjoy the view! There’s also a walk around the farm, and you can check the old barn full of hay! Had a great time with my family! Staff and owners were awesome.” – Trip Advisor Review
