Participate in Sooke Wildfire Community Preparedness Day

Wednesday, May 11, 2022 – Join FireSmart Coordinator, Ashlene Akatarian, for a public awareness and educational event to help community members better prepare for the 2022 wildfire season. Learn how to become FireSmart and reduce the potential impacts of wildfire on your home at the Saturday, May 28th pop-up from 10am-2pm in John Phillips Memorial Park.

Activities include:

  • Learn about wildfire risk and the Wildland Urban Interface zone.
  • Learn how to become FireSmart and protect your property.
  • Play a FireSmart Education Game & Pick up a colouring book for kids.
  • Book a free FireSmart Home Assessment for a chance to win FireSmart prizes!

For your chance to WIN the FireSmart prizes, including a WASP Wildfire Protection Kit to protect your home from travelling embers and sparks or a FireSmart Garden Kit that will help you create a FireSmart landscape, book a FREE FireSmart Home Assessment. Sooke is located within the Wildland Urban Interface zone meaning our community is at a greater risk of a devasting wildfire. Homeowners play an important role in wildfire prevention; they can directly reduce the wildfire risk and damage to their property by using FireSmart principles.
