Wednesday, January 20, 2021 – The Regional Office of Environmental Coordination within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans will be completing some environmental sampling around the Whiffin Spit at the Major Shore Light. This is a follow-up to work that the Department did on the Shore Light in 2015.
The work involves taking several shallow soil and sediment samples at various distances in the area using hand tools. The public can expect a work vehicle at the site, and representatives from the Institute of Ocean Sciences and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans while the work is completed from January 25th to January 29th.
