Parking Enhancements Coming to John Phillips Memorial Park

Friday, May 27, 2022 –  Work is about to begin to make John Phillips Memorial Park more accessible.

Construction on community parking enhancements for the park will begin in early June and include thirty-six stalls, accessible parking, two electric vehicle charging stations and bike parking. Additionally, electrical connections for community events will be installed and twenty new trees will be planted, along with ornamental landscaping.

A new trail connection to the north of the parking lot will also be constructed. Trail access at Otter Point will remain available throughout the construction project.

The work is being funded by RGF Developments and is a part of the community amenity contribution with the construction of 2197 Otter Point Road. It is anticipated that the community parking enhancements will be completed this fall.

Sooke Country Market temporarily moving

The Sooke Country Market will remain at its current location this Saturday (May 28th) and move to its new (temporary) location, beside the Fire Hall (200 metres up the hill) for the remainder of the 2022 market season.

The 2197 Otter Point Road Development will provide two three-storey mixed-use commercial/residential buildings offering much-needed commercial space along with 77 rental housing units. Completion of this development is anticipated by Fall 2023.
