News Release: We’re on YouTube!

June 20, 2019
[Sooke, BC]

Did you know that the District of Sooke live streams all Council meetings and that recorded videos are available for viewing online?

Since 2016, community members interested in following local politics have been able to watch Council proceedings from the comfort of their own homes or tune in after the fact to see the result of a specific topic of debate. We’ve used several different platforms during that time, but as of the June 24, 2019 Regular Council meeting, we will now be streaming meetings through our own YouTube channel.

YouTube is the #1 live streaming video platform worldwide and brings an improved user experience for viewers. The interface is intuitive and familiar to many, videos will be of higher quality, and additional functionality such as closed captioning and improved analytic abilities are all benefits of the move to YouTube.

Residents who have previously watched Council meetings will find the transition to YouTube to be seamless. Navigating the District of Sooke website to watch video live streams and recordings will follow a familiar process as it has in the past.

For those of you who have never tuned in, Council generally meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month with some variation throughout the summer months and December. Agendas are posted the Thursday prior to each meeting and contain detailed reports on the topics to be discussed. Meeting details, and videos can be found at:
