News Release: Pay Parking at Sooke Potholes

August 7, 2020
[Sooke, BC]

Pay parking will be in effect at Sooke Potholes Parking Lot #1 starting August 13, 2020.

BC Parks relinquished the parking lot and all associated assets to the District of Sooke on April 1, 2020. The District of Sooke has contracted Robbins Parking to install and manage paid parking on the site, with revenues collected from parking fees used to offset the cost of park services. This is a new meter in addition to existing CRD Sooke Potholes pay parking at CRD parking Lots 1, 2 and 3. Parking is free at all other Sooke parks and trails.

The cost of parking is $2.25 per day or $20 for a season’s pass. The on-site ticket dispensers accept coins and credit cards. You may also purchase a ticket or seasonal pass using the Honk Mobile system, which has a web-based platform and a downloadable app.

The parking pass uses a pay-by-plate system whereby the parking pass is associated with a specific vehicle. You do not need to display a pass in your vehicle.

Acquiring this space as a municipal park provides easy access to a beautiful, freshwater beach in the iconic Sooke Potholes. Considered the “first section of potholes” the pools are smaller, relatively shallow, and contain several gravel beaches. The District of Sooke is excited to list this well-known jewel among its park assets.

Visitors are reminded that the Sooke Potholes are open sunrise to sunset. Parking is free during the off-season (October 1 to April 30).
