FUN RUN AND RIDE – SEPTEMBER 24, 2016: Celebrating the opening of the new John Phillips Memorial Park Loop Trail

The District of Sooke is pleased to sponsor the Wadams Way Fun Run and Ride, in support of Sooke Family Resource Society.

The Fun Run and Ride takes place on September 24, 2016, at 6672 Wadams Way (the Sooke Child, Youth and Family Centre) with registration and a bike decorating station starting at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join in the event, which encourages people of all ages and abilities: walkers, runners, riders and strollers.

Mayor Maja Tait will welcome attendees and officially open the new John Phillips Memorial Park Loop Trail before participants will be invited to start the approximately 2km loop through the park, returning to the Sooke Child, Youth and Family Centre just in time to kick off the 3rd Annual Wadams Way Public Market.

The construction of the John Phillips Memorial Park Loop Trail was completed in August of 2016 after extensive community consultation regarding future plans for the use of the park took place earlier this year.

District of Sooke Council, with the support of the Parks and Trails Advisory Committee, have prioritized additional improvements to John Phillips Memorial Park including the installation of benches and picnic tables, as well as the construction of a washroom facility.
