Friday, March 7, 2025 The District is Sooke is sharing the following information from Work BC for our business community:

Are you looking to hire in the Sooke region? WorkBC invites you to participate in WorkLink Employment Society’s START Youth Employment and Skills Strategy program!

About the START Program

Since 2015, the START Youth Employment and Skills Strategy program has empowered youth aged 15 to 30 in the Westshore region. Serving over 160 youth between 2020 and 2024, program participants have enhanced their employment readiness, gained short-term certifications, and valuable work experience. With the program’s expansion to Sooke, essential support will now be available to youth within the region!

How to Make a Difference

Local organizations can play a vital role by sharing insights as guest speakers and providing paid work experience. Temporary work placements help meet immediate operational needs and may lead to permanent positions. Additionally, businesses that hire participants from the START program can benefit from wage incentives available through the Wage Subsidy program, which is designed to support training and hiring efforts.

Join WorkBC in making a positive impact on our community and the next generation of professionals!
