“Information is the key to understanding all the components of a municipal budget, which can be multi faceted and dynamic in nature” said Mayor Tait. She hopes that residents in the community will bring their questions, thoughts and plans to the open house and engage with the experts on staff regarding topics of interest with productive conversations.

The current proposed tax increase, with no adjustments, is at 7.17% which is broken down to approximately $87.41 per household (based on the average property assessment of $481,000). Below are a few key contributing factors to the 2019 proposed budget:

Areas contributing to proposed tax increase:

  • Two major community planning exercises to help build the foundation for a growing community.
  • Historically minimal tax increases.
  • Changes to the BC Employer Health Tax
  • Adding new staff members necessary for continuing forward.
