News Release: District seeking feedback on cannabis production

June 3, 2019

The District of Sooke is seeking community feedback about the regulation of cannabis production facilities through a new online survey.

Cannabis production facilities require licenses from Health Canada. While the District is not responsible for approving cannabis production facilities, it is able to regulate where they are located through land use planning tools, including zoning.

The District is currently in the process of determining where to permit these facilities, and what other regulations (if any) should be applied to them. The District invites residents to complete a brief, 10 question survey to help determine how these facilities are regulated. The survey can be found here:

Survey responses will be accepted until Monday, June 24, 2019.

Questions or comments regarding cannabis production facilities can be directed to Nicholas Deibler, Planner 1, at ndeibler@sooke.ca
