The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 in Sooke invites the community to honour and remember the sacrifices of those who served in Canada’s armed forces with a series of Remembrance Day Services on Sunday, November 10th, and Monday, November 11th.
Sunday, November 10: Candle Lighting Service
The Remembrance Day observances will begin on Sunday, November 10th, with a solemn Candle Lighting Service at 6:00 pm at the Cenotaph. This ceremony is an opportunity for residents to come together in quiet reflection and remembrance. Following the service, light refreshments will be served for youth in the Upstairs Hall of the Legion.
Monday, November 11: Remembrance Day Ceremony
On Monday, November 11th, the community is invited to participate in the main Remembrance Day Ceremony. The day will begin with a march off from Evergreen Plaza at 10:30 am, leading to the Cenotaph, where the formal ceremony will commence at 10:50 am. This annual tradition is a chance to pay respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to show appreciation for veterans and service members.
Following the ceremony, attendees are welcome to join Legion members for a gathering at the Legion Hall:
- Adults can enjoy chili, chowder, and sandwiches in the Lounge.
- Youth are invited upstairs for hot dogs and hot chocolate.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 encourages all residents to attend and be part of this meaningful tribute to Canada’s veterans and military families.
