Distrock of Sooke Leaves No Stone Unturned!

News Release – August 4, 2016

[Sooke, BC] Despite recent rumours swirling about town, the District of Sooke has no aversion to painted rocks. Being a long-time friend of painted rocks, the District’s main entrance has had a painted rock propping the door open since incorporation in 1999.

Staff acknowledges they were looking for ways to perk up local interest in participating in a grass roots ‘art on the go’ initiative. Joining in the fun are local businesses – A&W, TD Bank, Royal Bank and Village Grocers.

To the amusement of staff, someone with a terrific sense of humour dropped by the District office and left a painted rock for Mayor and Council (see photos).

“This is a unique touch of whimsy, we encourage both residents and visitors alike to get creative and paint a stone. This is what makes Sooke such a special place to call home,” said Mayor Tait. “
