As a series of storms is predicted to affect Vancouver Island this week, the District of Sooke would like to remind homeowners to prepare themselves, their families and their homes.
Flooding, power outages and wind damage may occur during winter storms. Residents are encouraged to keep emergency supplies stocked, such as food, water, flashlights, batteries and blankets.
As a precautionary measure, community members are invited to fill sandbags, provided by the District, using sand from the District of Sooke Public Works Yard, located at 2060 Kaltasin Road. Please bring your own shovel.
The Public Works Yard is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
