Media Advisory – District of Sooke thanks Local Businesses

DISTRICT OF SOOKE THANKS LOCAL BUSINESSES

Sooke, BC – March 17, 2016

Mayor and Council and the District of Sooke staff thank local business owners for being patient as the Ministry of Transportation addresses the deficiency list related to the work done on the roundabout.

“We expect this work to be completed near the end of March 2016 – weather dependent” says Acting Mayor, Rick Kasper.

Inspections with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure staff (engineering and maintenance) District of Sooke staff, the project engineer and representatives from ICBC will take place prior to the end of the month.

“We understand this work had a negative affect on local businesses and appreciate the support we received from good corporate citizens, Village Food Centre, Home Hardware, Wood Travel and Cruise, Sooke Fax & Copy Centre, Island Land Surveying Ltd, Sooke Dance Studio and Randy Clarkson and Laurie Wallace (West Coast Design), who worked closely with district staff to mitigate disruptions” says Chief Administrative Officer, Teresa Sullivan.

“We look forward to implementing the next stages of enhancing community livability in our strategic plan by making the town centre more vibrant and accessible” says Rick Kasper.
