District of Sooke Offers Condolences to Family on the Passing of Former Fire Chief

The District of Sooke regrets to inform the public of the passing of former Fire Chief Bill Stephenson who passed away last night in hospital.

Chief Stephenson was a well respected member of the fire department and within the community, having served the Sooke Fire Department for over 62 years. Sooke Fire Rescue Station #1 was named in honour of him and his contributions to the department.

“Chief Stephenson was a very special member of our community and he had a significant impact on the citizens of Sooke and specifically on the members of the Fire Department. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him,” said Mayor Maja Tait.

Mayor Tait and members of Council extend their sincere condolences to Billy’s family and friends.
