Congratulations to the 2022 Fire Service Recruit Class!

Thursday, June 2, 2022 – Congratulations to the 2022 Fire Service Recruit Class!

The 2022 Recruit Class is a joint effort between Sooke, Metchosin Fire Department, and East Sooke Volunteer Fire Department. The 2022 Class has completed the Justice Institute of British Columbia: JIBC Interior Firefighter Training program. Five members from Sooke, seven from Metchosin, and two from East Sooke have worked together since the fall of 2021 to learn, grow, and prepare to serve their respective communities.

The Recruit Program includes over 280 hours of hands-on practical skills, theory, knowledge and skill evaluations. These Sooke firefighters are now responding to emergency calls, protecting life and property in the District of Sooke.

Our newest probationary firefighters will now move on to the JIBC Full Service Firefighter Program to complete their NFPA 1001 Level 2 professional qualifications.

Sooke Fire Rescue and the entire team with the District send a special thank you to their families for supporting them through a demanding program.

Welcome firefighters Andersen, Schostek, Schuttinga, Panganiban, and Alphonso!
